All Government is bad (except the military and CIA)

I find it humerus that Republicans talk incessantly about the uselessness of government run programs and the taxes to fund the government yet forget that two of their favorite entities fall into this category. Where would we be without a "strong military" and the "covert operations" of our central intelligence agency (CIA)? Ronald Reagen, Republican god, pounded this into the collective consciousness. According to many of the elected Republican talking heads, it is outrageous that our House speaker Nancy Pelosi would dare to question the CIA, a government entity. They're forgetting the fact that many congressmen from both parties have questioned the honesty of the CIA over the decades. It's shocking isn't it that a group hired to be covert would try to keep secrets? Let's not forget that the Republicans are the Military's champions what with endless pre-emptive wars to fight and teenagers to recruit. They hate bloated budgets yet forget to mention that the military takes up the largest portion of every budget.

Bogus right wing arguments against a public Health Care option

1. A public option will put private insurers out of business
-According to the right wing, free enterprise is brilliant and government programs are useless so the private health industry clearly has nothing to fear.

2. A public option will lessen choice
-Health Insurance companies have never had any real competition. A public option will increase consumer choice.

3. The government wants to get between you and your doctor.
-The only people who don't have interference between them and their doctor are those paying 100% out of pocket for their services. Insurance companies have long restricted access to certain procedures and medications in order to protect their profit margin. Unless you're in the top 5% of income earners and choose to pay out of pocket then you have experienced meddling in your health care.

4. We need smaller government and a public plan will grow government.
-What we need is government that works for the people. Stop with the tired rhetoric.

5. Canadians hate their health care system and therefore all government options are bad
-I grew up in Canada and also know a lot of Canadians. I can say with certainty that the vast majority of Canadians are happy with and proud of their health care system. In fact, most feel sorry for Americans having to deal with so much uncertainty in accessing health care.

6. Canada's public system isn't working so we should not adopt a public option
-Nobody is proposing that we copy Canada's 1 tier (mostly) health system. Barack Obama supports a public option alongside our private insurance options.
